Family: Pteridaceae or Adiantaceae (Spooner, 1997)
The common name for this fern is Morse fern( Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, 2013). Taenitis pinnata is part of the Taenitis genus of 15 species. Representatives of this genus are present from Malaysia to Fiji, India to Sri Lanka and southern China and Australia. It is a native species in Western Australia( Spooner, 1997)
The first specimen of this species was identified in 1959 by Richard Eric Holttum. (Holttum, 1975). Here is an image displaying the structure of the fern.
